Pashupatinath Temple (Mandir means temple in Nepali language) is at Gausala in Kathmandu. Pashupatinath Temple is one of the holiest destinations for Hindu pilgrimage in Nepal and is located on the bank of Bagmati river in Kathmandu. Large number of Nepali people who are belong to Hindu religion can be seen in Pasupatinath. Hindu people of India and Nepal have strong devotion to Pashupatinath. There are imitation of Pasupatinath in some parts of Nepal such as Pashupati Temple of Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Kathmandu Durbar Square. The value of temple is still the same as in ancient time. There are images of Shiva Linga with statues, shrines and temples dedicated to other deities in the complex. A temple dedicated to Shiva existed at this site in AD 879th However, the present temple built by King Bhupatindra Malla in 1697. Lord Shiva is also called Bhole BABA, Mahadev, Shankar and Maheshwor. Har… Har… Mahadev is the rhyme of Hindu to remember the god. A gold plated roof, silver doors and woodcarvings of the highest quality decorate the pagoda construction. Guheswari Temple, restored in the year 1653, represents the female “force”. It is dedicated to Satidevi, first wife of Shiva, who gave his life in the flames of ritual fire of his father.
A group of the Pashupati area takes visitors to a statue of Buddha in the sixth century, a statue of the eighth century of Brahma, the creator and numerous other temples. Some other places to visit are Rajrajeswari Temple, built in 1407, Kailash with Lingas over 1,400 years, and Biswarup Gorakhnath temple courtyard. There are rows of Shiva shrines and Hindu pilgrims from all worship the South Asia offering puja to Lord Shiva, Lord of Destruction tile. Pashupatinath is listed on UNESCO world heritage sites.
The Bagmati River flows close by and the reasons Arya Ghat cremation here. It is strongly advised photographers not to take photos of funeral and of shocked families. Sages follows the lifestyle of lord Shiva is seen covered with ashes and loincloths. They ask for money if you want to take their photos. The main Pashupatinath courtyard may be entered by those of Hindu faith only. From Pashupatinath Kathmandu Airport is only about 3.59 km.
