The dish, Dal Bhat stands as a set of main course in the kitchen of Nepali People. The etymological meaning of Bhat is rice and similarly dal is lentil, but this does not mean Dal Bhat is only rice and lentil. There might be so many sets of curries (Tarkari), meat and pickle (Achar or Chutney)accompanied with Dal and Bhat. Generallly, cooking rice is not a Herculean task. It is very easy to cook rice. The most popular way of cooking rice is steaming method. Just put some water and rice inside rice-cooker, and then switch the button on. According to the requirement of consumers we can give variation to Bhat, in terms of adding ingredients or flavor. Here is Nepali Dal Bhat Recipe below: Types of Bhat (Rice): -Steam Rice (Normally way of cooking rice in rice-cooker) -Fried Rice (Fry cooked rice in frying Pan or Wok) -Butter Rice (After cooking, add some butter and cover it with lid for sometime) -Pilau (The rice is normally used in party and occasion in Nepal) There are different forms of Dal (lentil): -Gram Dal -Toor Dal -Beans Dal -Masoor Dal -Mung Dal Ingredients for Dal: -Any sorts of preferred Dal -Two Whole Red chilies -Ginger-Garlic paste -Oil or Ghee -Masala -Finely chopped red Onion -Finely chopped tomatos -Turmeric poweder -Chili powder as per requirement -Salt pepper to seasoning -Finely chopped coriander Method of cooking: First of all Steam the Dal in Pressure-Cooker, then put the wok on fire, put some ghee on wok and let it hot, after that put whole red chilies on it. Gradually add chopped onion and let it be golden brown, similarly follow ginger and garlic paste, Masala, turmeric powered, finely chopped tomato, chili powder and salt pepper to taste.
