In Nepal there are 35 airports in various places. Some of them are accessible to the public whilst some are not. Among those 35 airports, only 10 airports have paved runways. In Nepal the only airport with customs procedure is Kathmandu Airport (Tribuvan International airport) in Kathmandu. There are officially published approach events for Bhairahawa airport, Biratnagar airport, Nepalguni airport and, of course, Tribhuvan International Airport. The most dangerous airport is Lukla Airport in Nepal. Lukla Airport is listed in one of the extremely dangerous airports in all over the world. Domestic and International flights are operated in Nepal. The only one international airport is Kathmandu Airport. The government of Nepal has planned to extend international airport either in Pokhara or Lumbini because both of the places have high possibilities of tourism in Nepal. Airports are very essential in Nepal because the geographical structure of Nepal is very complected. The extension of road transportation is very hard and slow as well. That is why, the only reliable means of transportation is airplane. Mountain flights, ultralight aircraft and helicopters are used to enhance tourism in Nepal. However, sometime the plane crash in Nepal is due to the bad weather and poor visibility.
