Tenzing-Hillary Airport also known as Lukla Airport is a small airport situated at Lukla, Solukhumbu district in Nepal. Lukla Airport is also considered to be one of the most dangerous airports in the world as rated by ‘The History Channel 2010′. On May 29 1953, Edmund Hillary along with Nepalese mountaineer Tenzing Norgay became the first to climb and reach the highest peak in the world. And that is the reason for Lukla Airport to be named Tenzing-Hillary Airport (2008) in honor of Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay and to remember their efforts to make Lukla Airport. Lukla Airport code is LUA.Being the doorway to climb Mount Everest, Lukla is popular destination for tourists.Lukla Airport stands at the elevation point of 9,383/2860m, the Lukla weather here gets challenging throughout the year.
