Baglung

BaglungBaglung is situated in the hilly area in western Nepal and about 275 km from the capital city Kathmandu. Baglung is in the west of adventure tourism destination Pokhara and even the headquarters of Dhaulagiri zone.It is located on a terrace overlooking the river Kali Gandaki which is famous for its gorges and bends well known. It is the city of quaint shopping streets and traditional buildings, where merchants plain Terai in the south and hills in the north meet to barter. Inhabited by different ethnic groups like Gurung, Magar, Brahman, Chhettri and others, Baglung offers the most panoramic view of Mount Dhaulagiri in the north. Has recently been linked to Pokhara by road 72 km black topped. Balewa airport is the main airport in Baglung. Parbat, Myagdi and Rukum are the neighbor districts of Baglung. On the way to Baglung, you can enjoy the picturesque view of the incredibly long range north of the Annapurna Himal. Baglung is also a good starting point for the game reserve Dhorpatan where controlled hunting is allowed for certain species. The reserve is famous for blue sheep. The walk from Baglung Bazar Dhorpatan takes about four days. Terraced fields, cataracts, woods, caves and deep gorges are the prominent factors all across Baglung area. Kalika Temple is the well-known temple among Hindu Nepali people. In the occasion of Dashain festival large numbers of pilgrimages can be seen in Kalika Temple. Trekking is usual in Baglung. Similarly, longest rafting destination is Kali Gandaki River. The panoramic view of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Dolpa and Mustang can be seen from Kalika temple. This has made Kalika Temple further special even for foreigners.

Folk Nepali music is famous in Baglung. In festivals and occasions people perform folk music and cultural program.

Availability:

Daily bus services are available in Baglung from Pokhara and Kathmandu. This is a 3-hour bus ride from Pokhara. Balewa airport is only one airport in Baglung district.

There are some sophisticated lodges in Baglung Bazar.
